We are looking people who are serious about pursuing a career as a reporter in regional or national news media, either in print or online.

The core skills that make up good reporters are:

  • Good communication skills – both written and verbal
  • A passion for news
  • A willingness to work hard
  • An inquiring mind
  • A wide general knowledge

If you think you have these attributes, the course may well be for you.

We are very aware that you will be making a substantial financial commitment in your own future by applying for the course. With that in mind, we like to see evidence of candidates having completed a period of work experience in a related environment before they come on the course.

This ensures that you can be certain you know exactly what the job is like before you embark on this route. and are sure it is for you.

We also ask that you keep a relatively open mind about location when you are seeking that first job.
